Membership Dollars Make A
Difference!
It is hard to believe that the Peabody
Auditorium is in its 62nd year of presenting outstanding theatre, including
Broadway shows, concerts, comedy, symphony, children�s shows, ballet and
opera! In the early years of what was simply called "The Auditorium," the
City of Daytona Beach nears its 100th year providing this landmark venue for
such events.
Since the Peabody started operating as an Enterprise Fund, substantial
progress has been made each year toward the goal to become a self-sustaining
operation. Member dollars are a vital lifeline to maintaining the financial
stability of The Peabody. Member dollars not only help to bring the world�s
top entertainers to Daytona Beach, but they help to enrich the lives of your
friends, neighbors and children. Attendance at Peabody events has increased
over 60% in the past three years. In order to keep the curtain rising, the
Peabody needs your support.
At the close of Tony Bennett's recent concert, he lauded the Peabody for its
acoustical virtues, noting that the Peabody Auditorium was designed the way
all auditoriums should be! Mr. Bennett ordered the stage crew to turn off
the mikes and any sound amplification. Then he proceeded to sing acappella
with no amplification, and the audience went wild!
